Beginner’s Guide To The Insanity Workout

10 445

Insanity-DVD-Set-For-60-DaysThe Insanity workout is taking the nation by storm. It was created by Shaun T in July of 2009 and he hasn’t looked back since.

What is more, it has been called one of the most extreme exercises in the world and is intended to give you results in 60 days with what they refer to as max interval training.

This technique keeps your body working at its highest capacity through your entire session which is different from all other programs and techniques out there.

How Does It Work?

In the other regimes, you work out for a period of time then really push yourself for a minute or two to increase your heart rate, and then you have a break to catch your breath. However, insanity throws this idea out the window!

What is more, it pushes you to constantly go over your limits to increase your pulse for certain amount of time followed by a short break (just long enough to take a gasp of air) and then you are going right back to work.

  • No. 9: Max Interval Plyo - By now, you are pro, but that doesn’t make these workouts any easier. This video is a more difficult reprise of the plyo you got in month one.

  • Rhonda

I have been doing the Instanity Workout and let me tell you it’s no joke! It takes dedication and commitment. I haven’t worked out in years so I might have gone over my head, I cannot do all the dvds. Instead of giving up I try to do the dvd as far as I can, after that I put on the Plyometric Cardio Circuit. It is my favorite one and I always burn around 850 calories. So far I have lost 23 pounds and my body is getting back super toned.

    • Missy

Thanks for the support Rhonda. I had read through this article and was beginning to feel like Insanity was too much for me, but I think I’m going to get it now. I’ll just do what you said to do, see how far i can go, and watch myself get better.

  • Clive

I used to go to the gym, but something always got in the way and I would always make an excuse as to why I couldn’t make it. I ended up with a 2 year contract for a gym membership that I barely used. I saw this infomercial one night so I ordered it, Its has changed my life. I workout in the morning before work. No excuses, only results. I cannot wait to be done the program so I can get my free tshirt.

    • joyce

I also kind of have been ignoring my gym lately I used to have friends that went, but they stopped going, and I guess that was all the excuse I needed to quit too.

  • Felix

Sorry but Shaun T is so annoying! I prefer P90X, its just as good, if not better. But I do love Hip Hop Abs and that is by Shaun T as well.

  • Selena

Does anyone know if there is weight restriction on this? I tried p90X but when it came time to do the yoga dvd, I just couldn’t. It seems these programs are made for people that don’t have hundreds of lbs to lose.

    • Rani

I have a hard time doing the yoga poses too, and I don’t think I’ve way too overweight… practice makes perfect is what I figure. Stick with it, and the weight will fall off :)

  • Gina

I was once a size 0, four kids, a husband, 2 dogs and a bird later- I am now a size 14! I used to workout 2 hours a day and watch my diet. But sometimes life happens, so I bought this from Amazon since its has over 2000 positive reviews. I hope that it works! I figure that after all I do for my family, they can at least leave me alone for an hour.

    • Bethany

I totally hear you Gina! When I lived in NYC I walked a couple of miles a day, just going to work and doing errands. I was a size 4. I moved out of the city and got married, and now everything is a drive away, rather than a walk. Suddenly, within 2 years, I’m a size 12 :( I still workout, but I guess not enough. I need to make some changes before this gets serious.

  • Camille

OMG, that does sound insane! Can I really burn 1000 calories in just one of these workouts? that idea both scares me, and make me want to try it. I really need to lose some weight fast, I have a cruise coming up and I’m not bikini ready!
